Enquiries continue after man was seriously injured after being hit by a van

A man was seriously injured after being hit by a van in Hamilton on Friday.

Emergency services were called to the scene on High Blantyre Road shortly before noon on August 14.

The pedestrian was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

The B7012 High Blantyre Road was closed between Russell Street and the East Kilbride Expressway for five hours whilst police carried out their enquiries.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received reports around 11.55am of a road traffic crash involving a van and a pedestrian on High Blantyre Road in Hamilton.

“A man has been taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries. The road was closed and re-opened around 5pm.

“Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.”
