Enormous Scots B&M with garden centre opens its doors in Ayrshire town

An enormous new discount store has finally opened its doors in Ayrshire.

The ribbon was cut on the giant triple-sized B&M at Glencairn Retail Park in Kilmarnock on Saturday, February 4.

According to bosses, the megastore was created following feedback from regular customers who said they wanted a bigger shop and even more products.

The new 24,461. sq. ft. store offers an even bigger selection of products from big brands across a variety of departments. The store also expanded its garden centre selling hundreds of plant varieties and gardening essentials.

The existing Queen's Drive Retail Park B&M is to remain open until March 26.

The megastore has created 30 new jobs in the town with 60 workers expected to be working from the mega unit once the first store eventually closes.

Staff were asked to nominate a local charity they think truly deserves some VIP treatment for the work they do for the local community. They chose the team from Action for Children to take centre stage and officially unveil the new B&M store.

Action for Children aims to protect and support children and young people.

They do this by providing practical and emotional care and support. They ensure that their voices are heard, and campaign to bring lasting improvements to their lives.

Action is taken through intervention, prevention, and advocacy to help give those who they support the foundations they need to thrive and have a safe and happy childhood. Last year the amazing work they did managed to help 671,000 children, young people, and families.

The store manager at Glencairn Retail Park said: “A big thank you to the team at Action for Children who helped us open the store, we hope that our donation can help them to continue to do the great work they do in supporting the local people.”

Customers can expect to find a wide variety of branded groceries including a range of food, drink, and pet food.

There will also be a selection of health and beauty products, homeware, electricals, DIY essentials, toys, games, gifts and plenty more to explore.
