Flytippers have dumped a huge mountain of tyres in a Welsh beauty spot.
The pile of discarded rubber was discovered in an area of Westwood Forest in Monmouthshire.
Gwent Police rural crime team tweeted to say the tyres appeared in Wentwood some time last week.
Part of the 2,500 acre forest is owned by the Woodland Trust and contains the largest block of ancient woodland in Wales.
Rural crime team officers are appealing for any information relating to the flytipping incident.
Andrew Hobbs, land management officer for Natural Resources Wales, said: "Looking after Wales’ woodlands is a huge part of the work we do and this can include clearing waste from the land we manage when it’s dumped there illegally.
"The fly-tipped tyres at Wentwood forest will be cleared in the next couple of days and the incident has been reported to the police for investigation."
A spokeswoman for Monmouthshire County Council said the scale of the flytipping indicated it was committed by a commercial enterprise.
"A large section of Wentwood Forest is owned by in Natural Resources Wales, we welcome the fact that they have been made aware of this incident," she said.
"As an authority we work in partnership with Flytipping Action Wales and other neighbouring authorities to try and reduce flytipping across south east Wales.
"Flytipping of tyres on this scale is worrying and may indicate that it is linked to a commercial operation. We will continue to work with partners and welcome support from NRW in tackling this issue."
