'Enormous' big cat enters pensioner's home through tiny window

A pensioner has described his terror after he discovered an “enormous” big cat in his study. The 83-year-old was stunned when the hissing beast, climbed in through a tiny upstairs window.

A neighbour rushed to help capture the animal, thought to be from the serval family, but it wriggled free and escaped. The black-spotted feline was roaming only 1.4 miles from where the “Beast of Bishops Avenue” was cornered by armed police in 2020.

Moses Gerbi, of Hampstead Garden Suburb, north London, told the Mirror : “The animal was enormous – much, much bigger than a domestic cat. I thought, ‘Am I imagining this?’ I was just stepping into the room when it plonked down from the window. He saw me and tried to jump up and get out again but he couldn’t.”

The pensioner said he shut the door before the neighbour put a lead on the cat, but it still managed to get away. The cat is thought to be an escaped pet.

Moses added: “Two days ago, my wife thought she saw it going across the garden. It’s obviously still roaming around.”
