Enniskillen road partially closed as part of public realm scheme

Traffic delays are to be expected in Enniskillen as a main road in the town is partially closed for two weeks.

The west bound lane of the Queen Elizabeth Road will be closed until Wednesday October 14 as part of the ongoing Public Realm Scheme work in the Co Fermanagh town.

Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, which is delivering the £5million scheme to improve the town centre in Enniskillen, said it appreciates the co-operation and patience of local residents and businesses.

“Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has advised of a temporary lane closure at Queen Elizabeth Road to facilitate works to the footpath as part of the £5.2 million Enniskillen Public Realm project,” a statement from the council said.

“The westbound lane on Queen Elizabeth Road will be closed from Thursday 30 September to Thursday 14 October 2021.

“Vehicles may enter the town via the right turn onto East Bridge Street from Queen Elizabeth Road and exit the town via the left turn onto Belmore Street from Queen Elizabeth Road.

“The Council and the contractor, FP McCann, continue to engage with town centre traders in regard to the progress of the works and appreciates the continued cooperation and patience while site works are ongoing to progress this much needed project for Enniskillen.”
