KOTA: Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Rural, Kota arrested an assistant engineer for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 at his government residence in Sultanpur town in the district on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the bureau searched four of his houses, two each at his native place in Karauli district and in Jaipur, while further interrogation with the accused is underway.
Identified as Vishram Singh Meena, the officer was posted in Sultanpur panchyat samiti and also held an additional charge of village development officer (VDO).
ACB (Rural) ASP Prerna Shekhawat said that Meena was caught red-handed while allegedly accepting the bribe from the proprietor of a building material firm.
The accused engineer had demanded bribe of Rs 1 lakh from the proprietor for sanctioning quality of construction material that his firm has been supplying for interlocking work in panchyat samiti area, she added. tnn
