English youngster Louie Barry finally makes debut for Barcelona youth team

English youngster Louie Barry finally made his competitive debut for Barcelona on Saturday after a long delay with Fifa clearance.

The 16-year-old, wearing no.16 shirt, came on in the second half as Barca's 'Juvenil A' team beat San Francisco, of northern Spain, 2-0 at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. Jaume Jardi, a winger, scored both goals in the win.

Barcelona signed striker from West Brom in July to play in their Under-19 team, known at U19A.

Barry had rejected a professional contract with the Baggies to end a 10-year association with the club, with West Brom reportedly due £235,000 for the England youth international.

The youngster impressed during pre-season but was made to wait to play in the league.

A hold up with paperwork has delayed Barry's registration with Barcelona, in turn preventing him from playing a competitive fixture.

Amid the build up to Barry's debut, Victor Valdes was sacked as U19A head coach and replaced by U19B coach Franc Artiga.

Barcelona U19A have won six of their 11 league games, losing one.
