English Premier League start date, return fixtures and TV channel to watch the games

The English Premier League will officially restart on June 20 with a full card of fixtures, although the first matches will actually take place three days earlier.

The Telegraph reports that all 20 clubs have agreed to resume action next month.

The first games to take place will be Manchester City v Arsenal and Aston Villa v Sheffield United. These games are being played earlier as they had been postponed due to the League Cup final between City and Villa.

A full fixture list will then take place on 20 June.

BT Sports and Sky Sports have the rights to show matches live, but with the Saturday 3pm blackout set to be lifted, more matches could be picked up by broadcasters, according to The Mirror.

With 47 of the remaining 92 matches already going to Sky and BT, Amazon are believed to be interested in snapping up a number of those remaining.

This week a vote was passed which allows players to resume contact training.

A Premier League statement said: "Premier League shareholders today voted unanimously to resume contact training, marking another step towards restarting the Premier League season, when safe to do so.

"Squads are now able to train as a group and engage in tackling while minimising any unnecessary close contact.

"The Premier League's priority is the health and wellbeing of all participants.

"Strict medical protocols are in place to ensure the training ground is the safest environment possible and players and staff will continue to be tested for Covid-19 twice a week."
