Tottenham Hotspur returns home to its new mega stadium looking to get back on track after dropping points to Manchester City last weekend. They host Newcastle United, who are still looking for their first points of the season under new management.

Despite getting thoroughly dominated by the champions in their previous match, the Spurs came out of Ethiad Stadium with a point thanks to a wild VAR decision late in the match. It wasn’t a performance anyone at the club will be proud of, but getting a point against such a world class team as City cannot be scoffed at no matter how they achieved it. Mauricio Pochettino has been dealt a selection blow for this one, as star winter signing Tanguy Ndombele has been ruled out for the match against Newcastle. Lucas Moura once again played hero off the bench for Tottenham in their draw, coming on and scoring an equalizing goal in less than 20 seconds. The Brazilian continues to be a vital role player for the club.
Steve Bruce’s tenure as the new Magpies boss hasn’t started off on a great off with his new side dropping their first two results of the season, including an embarrassing, 3-1, loss to newly-promoted Norwich City. Their outlook doesn’t appear to be getting any brighter having to go to North London and take on a title contender. An already worrying offseason is slipping towards bleak to begin the season. They’ll need some results to start going their way soon or it could be a long and dreary campaign on Tyneside.
