English food reviewer blasts Supermac's but is full of praise for Conor McGregor's pub on trip to Dublin

An English food reviewer recently enjoyed a trip to Dublin and shared a number of videos from his time in the capital on social media.

Tony from Food Review Club headed for a Supermac's and also enjoyed a meal at Conor McGregor's Black Forge Inn pub in Crumlin.

Although Tony was very impressed with the food on offer at the UFC star's bar, Supermac's didn't do much for him at all.

Speaking after eating a large chicken breast sandwich meal with dressed fries and a beef burger with bacon and cheese at Supermac's, which he referred to as the Irish equivalent of McDonald's, Tony explained: "Please don't mention the word Supermac's in the same sentence as McDonald's.

"McDonald's gets a bad rap but the one thing it is is consistent. You know what you're getting, I like it, when you're getting one, it hits the f***ing spot.

"If I was wanting to lift my spirits and came here a bit down in the dumps and I had that, I'd probably be locked up at some stage.

"I'm fuming. The chicken was dry, overcooked, the chips were alright. They tasted trashy, but like yummy trashy. The rest was just trashy. Not yummy trashy. I'd give it give it a one out of ten. I hope that was just a bad one."

But Tony had a much better experience at the Black Forge Inn and was very complimentary of the food and drink served there afterwards.

He had hot and sticky chicken wings to start, which he said were "absolutely banging" and "f***ing gorgeous".

For his main course, Tony went for a 15 oz rump steak with Proper 12 sauce, which was cooked in front of him and served with onion rings and chips. He said it was "absolutely gorgeous", adding that the sauce was "electric".

Tony then opted for strawberries in cream for desert, saying that they were "beautiful" and also described McGregor's Forged Irish Stout as "f***ing lovely".

Reflecting on McGregor's pub as a whole, he said: "I was really unsure what to expect here at the Black Forge Inn and I haven't got a bad word to say about it.

"In fact, it's all positives. The team were on point, they were energetic, they were polite, they were well drilled, there was a slick service.

"The food was delicious, particularly those wings. The steak was delicious and the deserts showed a real class and intent. The stout they're doing as well was fantastic. Everything about what we've experienced today was delicious."
