Cardiff City are reportedly progressing in a deal to sign Rangers target Jens Hjerto-Dahl.
According to Sky Sports, the English Championship side are advancing in negotiations for the 20-year-old.
The English Championship club had a £5.5m transfer bid for Hjerto-Dahl booted out by Tromso earlier this week.
However, the clubs are thought to be in talks over reaching a transfer agreement to sign the midfielder.
Should a fee be agreed, then discussions over contract terms would have to be held with the player and his representatives.
Tromso are thought to be holding out for an £8.5m transfer fee for Hjerto-Dahl.
Tromso sporting director Lars Petter Kraemer-Andressen has stated any transfer deal would require "a lot to fall into place."
He said: "There have been negotiations over the past week.
"We'll see what happens, it could take a while.
"Several clubs are interested, but a lot has to fall into place for something to happen.
"If he's going to move on, it has to be a club Jens wants to go to and we also have pretty high expectations for the price.
"So it's not certain he'll leave.
"But if he does, we have a lot of good players, so we won't be much worse off if Jens disappears.
"Then we'll always be in the market and alert if something is interesting for us."
