England’s hottest June on record confirmed after blistering heatwave

• England experienced its hottest June on record, while the UK as a whole recorded its second warmest June, according to the Met Office .
• A new provisional temperature record of 37.7C was set in Lingwood, Norfolk, last week, surpassing the previous June record of 35.6C.
• The heatwave was attributed to a 'heat dome' over western Europe and linked to human-induced climate change, with exceptionally warm overnight temperatures contributing to the record.
• A new yellow heat-health alert has been issued for the south of England and parts of the Midlands, anticipating more hot weather from 4 to 8 July.
• The UK Health Security Agency warned that the expected hot weather could impact health and social care services and increase risks for vulnerable people.
