England XI vs Serbia: Starting lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for World Cup qualifier today

Jude Bellingham is only on the England bench as Serbia visit Wembley tonight, while Nico O’Reilly is handed his senior international debut.

Bellingham is back in the squad but Thomas Tuchel had said that the Real Madrid midfielder was in a fight with Morgan Rogers to be England’s No10 ahead of the World Cup.

Rogers starts against Serbia after a hamstring issue after Tuchel said he would keep much of the “structure” of his team the same.

Tuchel has Bellingham and Phil Foden back in the fold after both were missing in September and October, but neither start against Serbia as he sets England up in his favoured 4-2-3-1 formation.

Rogers has made his case to be England’s No10 and Tuchel has kept faith with the Aston Villa man after saying on Wednesday that he will not make dramatic changes to the side.

Tuchel said of picking between Rogers or Bellingham at No10: “At the moment the competition is between the two of them. They are friends, so it can also be a friendly competition.”

Tuchel’s two deep-lying midfielders have been Declan Rice and Elliot Anderson in the past two months and that remains the case on Thursday.

The England manager is without Marc Guehi, who will remain with the squad but won’t face Serbia due to a bruised ankle.

Nick Pope and Anthony Gordon of Newcastle have both left the squad through injury, with James Trafford and Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah replacing them in the group on Tuesday.

Ezri Konsa spoke to the media in Wednesday’s pre-match press conference, indicating he would likely start the game. He lines up alongside John Stones in a defence that includes debutant O’Reilly. Marcus Rashford replaces Gordon in attack.

England XI: Pickford, James, Stones, Konsa, O'Reilly, Rice, Anderson, Saka, Rogers, Rashford, Kane

Subs: Chalobah, J Henderson, Bellingham, Burn, D Henderson, Spence, Wharton, Foden, Eze, Bowen, Trafford, Quansah

Injured: Guehi, Gordon, Pope
