Jamal Musiala has become the youngest ever English scorer in the Champions League after netting for Bayern Munich in their 4-1 win over Lazio in Rome.
The 17-year-old made the move to the German giants from Chelsea's academy in 2019, and has played an important part in the first-team so far this season.
He was given a start in the first leg of their last-16 tie with Lazio, and after Robert Lewandowski had put Bayern in front early on Musiala's big moment came in the 24th minute as his low strike from just outside the box doubled the lead.
And it saw Musiala overtake Alex Oxlade Chamberlain as the youngest ever English scorer in the competition's history.
Meanwhile Lewandowski's goal was his 72nd in total in the tournament to take him above Raul into third-place in the all-time top scorer list, with only Lionel Messi (119) and Cristiano Ronaldo (132) above the Polish striker.
A further strike by Leroy Sane before half-time and an own-goal by Francesco Acerbi effectively ended the tie as a contest, although Joaquin Correa got what will surely be nothing but a consolation for Lazio.
It means Bayern's chances of defending the trophy they won last season look promising as they attempt to win the seventh European Cup in their history.
Huge things are expected of Musiala, but England look set to miss out on his services despite the fact he has represented them from U15 to U21 level.
He was born in Stuttgart to a British-Nigerian father and German mother, and is thus eligible to play for all three countries.
But Musiala is expected to choose Germany, and is likely to join up with the squad and potentially make his senior debut for the nation next month despite Gareth Southgate's efforts to change his mind.
