England expect Jason Roy to return from injury in their latest meeting with beleaguered Sri Lanka on his home ground the Kia Oval on Thursday.

After a 3-0 T20 whitewash, Chris Woakes and Joe Root helped England to a comfortable five-wicket win in the opening ODI on Tuesday.

Roy missed the final T20 and first ODI with a hamstring injury but is likely to return to resume his prolific partnership with Jonny Bairstow on Thursday.

Roy would likely come in for Moeen Ali or a seamer, with Liam Livingstone dropping down the order.

Dawid Malan left the camp on Monday for personal reasons, with a replacement expected to be called up.

England will be eying another 3-0 sweep over Sri Lanka, with the series concluding in Bristol on Sunday.

Tuesday’s five-wicket win was set up by Woakes’ extraordinary figures of 10-5-18-4, and completed by Root’s unbeaten 79.
