England vs Panama player ratings: Who starred as the Three Lions went top of Group G with World Cup rout?

England hit a poor Panama side for six in difficult, hot conditions to ease themselves into the last 16 of the World Cup.

Any early nerves were eradicated by John Stones’ early header, who bagged himself a second goal late in the first half from a well-worked set piece. Captain and leader Harry Kane notched up another three goals, and now leads the race for the Golden Boot.

Two of Kane’s goals were from the penalty spot after some truly awful defending from Panama from corners, before his third flicked off his heel from a Ruben Loftus-Cheek strike.

Jesse Lingard had his best game in an England shirt, and after being felled for the first penalty picked himself up to hit a stunning strike into the top corner not long after.

The second half was a quieter affair, and concern from England as Kieran Trippier was replaced by Danny Rose before his hamstring was strapped up on the bench, and Felipe Baloy pulled one back for the World Cup debutants to score their first ever goal in the competition.
