England vs Pakistan
2019 Cricket World Cup
Venue: Trent Bridge
Date: Monday, 3 June, 2019
Start: 10:30am BST

England's second World Cup game sees them head to Nottingham to take on Sarfraz Ahmed's Pakistan side at Trent Bridge.

Eoin Morgan's side got off to a decent start in the opening match of their World Cup campaign, beating South Africa by 104 runs at the Oval on Thursday, finishing on 311/8.

They will be sure-fire favourites to make it two out of two when they face a Pakistan team who are on a run of dismal form, having lost all 11 of their last one-day internationals.

The two sides have become familiar opponents, having met in a five-game series on the eve of the World Cup, which England won 4-0. However, in tournament cricket it is Pakistan who have the recent edge, having beaten England in the Champions Trophy semi-final two years ago.

England vs Pakistan team news

With short bowling already playing a huge part in the competition, England could add the extra pace of fast bowler Mark Wood to their side.

That could see Liam Plunkett, who played in the ODI series last month, left out as a result.

As for Pakistan, batsmen Asif Ali and Shoaib Malik could return having missed the defeat against the West Indies.

Result prediction: England win

Given that England beat Pakistan so convincingly in the 4-0 series drubbing last month, it would be no surprise to see a repeat at Trent Bridge. Trevor Bayliss's men are currently top of the group and, barring a shock result, Pakistan's miserable run looks set to continue.
