Welcome back to the Evening Standard's coverage of England vs Pakistan.
Zak Crawley claimed his first-ever Test century with an emphatic 171 not out as England took full control on day one at the Ageas Bowl.
With the toss delayed due to a brief shower, it appeared as if we may have another stop-start day ahead of us.
However, with play starting on time, we had a phenomenal and uninterrupted day of cricket, with England bouncing back from 127 for four to finish on 332 with six wickets remaining.
England will return to the crease with Crawley (171*) and Jos Buttler (87*) looking to build towards a hefty-looking total.
- Buttler brings up 18th Test half-century (239/4)
- Crawley claims first Test century (188/4)
- Pope bowled through the gate for three (127/4)
- Root falls to incredible Naseem delivery (114/3)
- England win toss and opt to bat first
