England vs Italy: Will Nottingham show Euro 2020 final on big screen for fans?

England's semi-final win to make the final of Euro 2020 was the stuff of dreams for the country as thousands took to the streets to celebrate.

The Three Lions came from behind to beat Denmark 2-1 in extra time and set up a final against Italy on Sunday as they look to win their first major tournament since the 1966 World Cup.

Roars of delight could be heard in pubs across Nottingham and the county after the final whistle and hundreds of fans made their way into Market Square, where an impromptu DJ set was set up on top of a small bus.

Italy now lie in wait this Sunday, July 11, at Wembley as England target a first ever European Championship success.

But where will you be watching the biggest match of a lifetime?

In 2018 during the World Cup in Russia, Nottingham put on a giant TV screen in the grounds of the city's castle - as well as a fanzone in Sneinton where hundreds could watch on in a joyous atmosphere with plenty of beer flinging.

But, due to coronavirus, there will understandably be no such events in Nottingham for the huge final.

The city council has repeated over the course of the tournament already, and before it started, that there are no plans for any big screenings.

So, while pub seats may be like hen's teeth, on Sunday the nation will watch on (many behind a sofa) to see if football really will come home once again.
