England’s Test summer began in disastrous fashion as they were skittled before lunch for just 85 runs by a magnificent Irish bowling performance.
Playing on his home ground, Middlesex seamer Tim Murtagh was the standout performer, taking five wickets for just 13 runs.
All of England’s World Cup heroes disappointed, with Jason Roy, Joe Root, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes and Jonny Bairstow scoring just eight runs between them, the latter trio all falling for ducks.
