England wrap up their Uefa Nations League campaign on Wednesday night as already relegated Iceland head to Wembley Stadium.
The Three Lions’ hopes of reaching the Nations League finals are over after back-to-back defeats to Denmark and Belgium, with Gareth Southgate’s side showing a lack of consistency in recent performances.
While England cannot reach next year’s finals, there is the small matter of the European Championships for Southgate to prepare for.
There will be pressure on the England boss to rest key players with a return to Premier League football looming, but he also has limited time remaining to find the ideal system for next summer’s Euros.

England boss Gareth Southgate handed Phil Foden a start in a strong side.
The Three Lions cannot progress to the finals having lost to Belgium at the weekend, while the visitors have already been relegated from Group A2.
There had been a line of thought that Southgate would therefore use the game to experiment with his team, with no fixtures now until March.
Instead, he named eight of the team that started in Belgium - making two enforced changes as injured duo Ben Chilwell and Jordan Henderson were replaced by Bukayo Saka and Manchester City forward Foden.
The other alteration saw Harry Maguire - suspended at the weekend - come in for Tyrone Mings in defence.
Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Man United), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Burnley)
Defenders: Michael Keane (Everton), Ainsley Maitland-Niles (Arsenal), Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa), Declan Rice (West Ham), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal), Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid), Kyle Walker (Man City), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Eric Dier (Tottenham), Joe Gomez (Liverpool), Harry Maguire (Manchester United)
Midfielders: Mason Mount (Chelsea), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton), Harry Winks (Tottenham), Phil Foden (Man City)
Forwards: Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Tammy Abraham (Chelsea), Harry Kane (Tottenham), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund)
Prediction: England 2-0 Iceland
Much about this prediction will depend on what sort of side Southgate opts for - but with squad places at a premium, you’d still expect an England ‘B’ team to secure a victory at Wembley.
