
Tonight’s game is a dead rubber in terms of Nations League qualification, but manager Gareth Southgate has underlined how valuable every game is ahead of next summer’s delayed Euro 2020.
Defeat to Belgium last time out sealed the Three Lions’ fate as they can no longer top Group A2, but the emergence of Jack Grealish as a potential star on the international game grabbed the headlines despite the defeat.
Grealish could start again tonight at Wembley in a team which will be of interest to many a Premier League manager which just three days to go until the domestic season resumes. Tottenham’s Jose Mourinho being one who has made no secret of his wish to see the likes of skipper Harry Kane sit this one out.
Even so, Southgate said ahead of tonight’s game: “We've got four matches in the next five months and we have to learn something from all of them, Tomorrow will be a different tactical challenge to the last couple of games."
