England U21 vs Germany U21 - LIVE!
England U21 have retained the European U21 Championship by beating Germany U21 in a dramatic final after extra-time. 2009 was the last time these two nations faced off in a Euro U21 Championship final and it was a one-sided affair as Germany ran out 4-0 winners.
A reversal seemed to be on the cards at one stage as England raced into a two-goal lead inside the opening 25 minutes, but Germany responded and got back on level terms with strikes either side of the break and they almost won it with the virtually the final kick of the regular 90. In the end, Jonathan Rowe - on as a substitute at the start of extra-time - scored what turned out to be the winner with only his second touch of the game, earning the Young Lions their fourth U21s title in the process.
Harvey Elliott gave England a dream start inside five minutes, Omari Hutchinson doubled the lead but Nelson Weiper reduced the deficit in first-half stoppage time and Paul Nebel completed the comeback. Lee Carsley’s substitution at the start of the second half paid off within minutes as Rowe made enough contact with Morton’s superb cross to crown England kings of Europe at under-21 level once again. England U21 2-0 Germany U21
20:40 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne39 min: Atubolu makes a very good save to deny McAtee putting England three ahead. That all came from Beadle almost getting caught out in his own half.

GOAL! England U21 2-0 Germany U21 | Omari Hutchinson '24

Omari Hutchinson gives England a two-goal advantage in the final. Great work from McAtee to tee up the Ipswich winger who rifles the ball into the back of the net.
England U21 1-0 Germany U21
20:23 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne22 min: Woltemade meets the free-kick but plants a header wide of the post. Offside flag is raised anyway so it’s all rather academic.

That just needed a touch!
England U21 1-0 Germany U21
20:12 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne12 min: England haven’t sat back since their goal. Keeping possession well and looking to probe, Livramento fizzes a ball into Anderson who can’t take it in his stride.
Young Lions almost in for a second there.
England U21 1-0 Germany U21
20:09 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne8 min: Elliott has now scored in the quarter-final, semi-final and final. Talk about stepping up at crunch time.
GOAL! England U21 1-0 Germany U21 | Harvey Elliott '5
20:07 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne5 min: GOALLLL
What a start for England U21s! Harvey Elliott with an early goal, it is a bit fortuitous as the ball fell kindly for the Liverpool star, but take nothing away from the finish.
England U21 0-0 Germany U21
20:04 , Tashan Deniran-Alleyne3 min: Hutchinson finds himself in space down the left, puts a cross into the box but not one England player gambled and Germany are able to clear their lines.

Nick Woltemade starts
19:35 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneWith six goals to his name so far, Nick Woltemade is an obvious danger-man for Germany U21s tonight.
The giant 23-year-old is being linked with a move to Bayern Munich after the tournament concludes, but can he sign off by firing his national team to glory.

Germany's route
18:30 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneGermany topped Group B ahead of England thanks to an 100 per cent winning record.
They needed extra-time in the quarter-final to overcome Italy in what was a thrilling encounter before beating France 3-0 in the semi-final.

England's route
18:25 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneAfter finishing second in Group B - behind Germany - the Young Lions overcame Spain in the quarter-finals before edging out the Netherlands in the last four.
Harvey Elliott has risen to the challenge in the knockout phase with three goals in two appearances.

Carsley reveals moment England "clicked"
18:20 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneDespite the 2-1 loss to Germany in the group phase, Lee Carsley says he took many positives from the game.
Speaking to reporters he said: “I’ve got a lot of confidence in the players. I knew the second half against Germany we clicked.
“In the first half, especially the first 20 minutes, it'd be fair to say we didn’t play well but there was a response from half-time to the second half.
"They train at such a high level and it was only going to be a matter of time till it clicked for them.
“After the game, I was more than confident that this team had clicked and we were in a good position."

Predicted England XI
18:15 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneWhilst Tyler Morton is available for selection again, Lee Carsley could be tempted to name an unchanged side from the one that started the semi-final win over the Netherlands.
That would mean another start in midfield for Elliot Anderson.
Predicted England XI: Beadle; Livramento, Quansah, Cresswell, Hinshelwood; Scott, Anderson; Elliott, McAtee, Hutchinson; Stansfield

Last time out
18:10 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneYou don't have to go back too far for the last meeting between these two nations. In fact, it was only 10 days ago as Germany beat England in the final Group B clash.
Angsar Knauff and Nelson Weiper put the Germans 2-0 up after 33 minutes and whilst Alex Scott reduced the deficit with 14 minutes left, the Young Lions couldn't muster an equaliser.

Today's settings
18:05 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneTonight’s final will be played at the Tehelne pole, otherwise known at the National football stadium in Slovakia.
Slovan Bratislava play their home games here as well as the national team.

Score prediction
17:50 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneThis will be a real test of the Young Lions’ mettle, and whether they can conjure every slither of quality they have to exact revenge.
They produced a disappointing display in the reverse game earlier on in the tournament, but they are in their groove now, as the recent performances demonstrate.
Woltermade will be tough to keep quiet with his physical presence and poise on the ball, while Charlie Cresswell and Jarell Quansah will want to ensure that Weiper does not get on the scoresheet.
England to win, 2-1
Germany U21 team news
17:45 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneFor Germany, however, they will be without key centre-back, Max Rosenfelder.
The Freiburg defender limped off after 10 minutes against France in the semi-final, and is ruled out for tonight's showpiece.

England U21 team news
17:40 , Tashan Deniran-AlleyneHarvey Elliott, the Young Lions' two-goal semi-final hero, did emerge as a doubt for tonight's final after revealing a knee problem following a botched celebration against the Netherlands.
Other than that, Lee Carsley will have a full complement to choose from as Tyler Morton is available again after suspension.
