Maro Itoje’s late try handed England victory over France

Maro Itoje notched a late try in south-west London to secure a brilliant victory for England, who bounced back from their ill-disciplined defeat by Wales a fortnight ago.
It was arguably the match of the tournament so far, with Antoine Dupont giving France the lead after only 80 seconds before Anthony Watson hit back on his 50th England cap.
Owen Farrell and Matthieu Jalibert were both accurate with the boot to set up a grandstand finish, with the hosts securing victory after Itoje’s try was awarded following a TMO check despite the best efforts of Teddy Thomas and Cameron Woki on the line.
More disappointment for France after their meeting with Scotland was called off following a Covid-19 outbreak.
Meanwhile, Wales’ Grand Slam confidence will only have grown ahead of a crunch trip to Paris next weekend.
