England vs Denmark Euro 2020 tickets sold for 10 times their value by shameless touts

Football touts are reselling tickets to the England vs Denmark Euros semi-final tomorrow for up to 10 times their original price.

The England squad are heading to Wembley Stadium tomorrow night to face off with the Danish side after winning 4-0 against Ukraine on Saturday.

Tickets have sold out, but were originally on sale for between £167 and £510 each.

But touts are now reselling these tickets for up to £1,750 each - a mark-up of between 243% and 947%.

One seller has listed two tickets to the game for £3,500, offering to send them via email after being paid.

Another is selling two for £3,200, and yet another pair is on sale for £2,900.

Some might say that this is a small price to pay to watch a top-flight England squad get one step closer to the finals.

And many people might be honestly selling tickets because they cannot attend a match for legitimate reasons.

But sadly these are not views shared by the boys in blue.

Reselling football tickets has been illegal since 1994, unless done with permission of the club. Anyone doing it faces a fine of up to £5,000 if caught.

They can also get hit by a football banning order - barring them from football grounds for a set period of time.

However, it is only illegal to resell football tickets - not tickets to any other form of sport or live music.

To get around the law, some touts try to sell the tickets online, with payment going through a country where the practice is not illegal.

Others will sell a low-value item such as a football scarf for a massive price and include the ticket for 'free'.

The game tomorrow has led to the hottest tickets since the 1966 World Cup final, as the Three Lions are now favourites to win Euro 2020.

The odds of England winning are 6/4, Italy 9/4, Spain 3/1 and Denmark 9/1, according to bookies William Hill.

Only 60,000 fans will be allowed inside Wembley due to the Covid-19 reduced capacity restrictions.

Even the England players are under huge pressure from family and friends desperate to see the game at Wembley.

One player was heard joking he could not cope with the demand.

He said his phone had been buzzing with WhatsApp messages minutes after the final whistle on Saturday.

Denmark have pledged to “win it for Christian Eriksen” – the former Spurs star who collapsed earlier in the tournament.

There will be 5,000 Danish fans inside the stadium tomorrow. Danish FA has the addresses of Danes living in UK and they will be sold tickets and have already been sent shirts and flags.

The match is also set to be hugely popular with viewers at home and in pubs.

Around 20.9million people tuned in to the England vs Ukraine match on Saturday, making it the UK’s most-watched TV show of the year.

EBay has been approached for comment.
