Australia hold a 34-run lead going into Day 4 of the first Ashes Test at Edgbaston, where England will again be looking for a way to get Steve Smith out.
The former Aussie skipper rescued the tourists with a brilliant 144 in the first innings, and his 46 not out in the second took the Aussies to 124/3 at the end of the third day.
With the tourists buckling at 27/2 and threatening to be blown away on Saturday evening, Smith put on 48 for the third wicket with Usman Khawaja and now shares an unbroken 49 for the fourth with Travis Head.
England were unable to call upon the bowling of leading all-time wicket-taker James Anderson on Saturday, with the fast bowler still nursing a calf injury.
