England vs Australia LIVE score: Latest Ashes updates and scorecard from first day of second Test

England will be aiming for revenge at Lord's after their first Test humiliation at Edgbaston.

Joe Root's men were beaten into submission by Steve Smith's centuries in both innings, before spinner Nathan Lyon ripped through their batting on the final day to end up with six wickets.

That all culminated in a 251 runs defeat to give Australia a 1-0 lead in the Ashes.

England will have a fresh look to their side, though, at the Home of Cricket with James Anderson ruled out with a calf injury and Moeen Ali dropped.

Jofra Archer, and his highly rated fast bowling, is almost certainly Anderson's replacement, while spinner Jack Leach and all-rounder Sam Curran are also potential inclusions.

Skipper Root is excited to see Archer in action. He said: "He is certainly very confident and that's great to see in a young guy, as he should be after the World Cup.

"And, as he made very clear, it's his preferred format so again I'm very excited to see at the start of his journey.

"If anything, it will motivate him and when he gets the chance he will be desperate to prove to everyone how good he is. That's what you want and he won't shy away from the challenge."

The tourists will make at least one change with their seamer James Pattinson left out of their 12-man squad, with left-arm speedster Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood in the frame to replace him.

Play is due to start at 11am on Wednesday morning...
