  • The government is considering an extra bank holiday on Friday 24 July if England wins the World Cup, with the Three Lions expected to face either France or Spain should they beat Argentina.
  • The last World Cup match between Argentina and England was in 2002, when David Beckham scored the game’s only goal following a foul on Michael Owen. England also beat Argentina on their way to glory in 1966 while Argentina knocked England out of the 1986 and 1998 World Cups.
