England will snatch top spot from Australia if they beat Afghanistan at Old Trafford today.
They must do so without Jason Roy, who has been ruled out of England's next two World Cup matches against Afghanistan and Sri Lanka with a tear in his left hamstring.
Eoin Morgan is expected to return following a back problem, while James Vince is set to replace Roy.
Afghanistan have lost all four of their matches at the World Cup to date, but the Old Trafford pitch is bound to suit their spin attack.
