England trio Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire and Raheem Sterling named in Euro 2020 team of the tournament

England’s Kyle Walker, Harry Maguire and Raheem Sterling have been named in Uefa’s team of Euro 2020.

The trio were joined by five players from champions Italy, as well as Spain prodigy Pedri, Denmark and Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku.

Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who saved spot-kicks from Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka in Sunday’s shootout, was named player of the tournament and was joined in the XI by teammates Leonardo Bonucci, who scored Italy’s equaliser, Leonardo Spinazzola, Chelsea’s Jorginho and Federico Chiesa.

Sterling scored against Croatia, the Czech Republic and Germany and was decisive in England’s knockout wins over Ukraine and Denmark, while Maguire and Walker formed part of the tournament’s meanest defence.

The XI was picked by UEFA’s 16-strong team of technical observers, which include West Ham manager David Moyes, former England boss Fabio Capello and former Spurs players Robbie Keane and Steffen Freund.

Spain’s 18-year-old midfielder Pedri won the young player of the tournament award, while Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo won the golden boot with five goals and one assist, pipping the Czech Republic’s Patrick Schick, who also scored five times.
