Harry Kane will make a shirt presentation before kick off to honour stricken Denmark star Christian Eriksen.
Former Tottenham midfielder Eriksen collapsed after suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch during Denmark’s first game which shocked the whole football world.
That shocking moment has driven Denmark on to the Euros semi final and the England team will pay their own tribute with Kane giving a signed England shirt with Eriksen’s name, No10 on the back signed by the whole squad to his opposite number Simon Kjaer.
Kieran Trippier, who was a team mate of Eriksen’s at Tottenham, recalled the terrible moment when they watched the Eriksen story unfold as England travelled to Wembley for their first game.
England defender Trippier said: “We were on the coach, before the Croatia game. We saw it on the screens. Yeah… It’s just good to see him now. There was a picture of him, right?
“Look, it’s just important that he is here with us. He’s getting better, he’s making progress. It’s just hard to put into words because I’ve played with him; I was close with Christian. The most important thing is he is getting better.
“I messaged him. I didn’t do it straight away, I messaged him through social media. It’s private what he said. This is the time to give him privacy, with his family and his children. We just want him to make progress in his recovery.”
Meanwhile, Trippier insists England must not go into their Euros semi final with regrets.
Trippier was part of the England team which lost to Croatia in the World Cup semi final in 2018 and says they must focus on the future to end their big tournament hoodoo.
England lost the semi final in Italia 90, Euro 96 and three years ago but Trippier now says the current generation are ready to write their own history.
Three Lions defender Trippier said: “No regrets. The past is in the past. We are in a position now where we just want to create our own history. That’s all we want to do. But I think from the two years I think the team has changed a lot.
“There are only maybe six or seven of us from the World Cup team. We’ve got so much good young talent. It is there for everyone to see the attacking players we’ve got. I think we’ve took that step forward from 2018.
“I wasn’t nervous. Even in the semi-final against Croatia three years I wasn’t nervous. I don’t get nervous before games, it’s more I can’t wait to get going. I wouldn’t say it’s nerves.
“It’s more, I’ve played in a lot of big games now, so when I come into semi-finals now, it’s just excitement. You are seeing the place, you are seeing the whole nation.
“Everyone is buzzing and it’s just good to see smiles on everyone’s faces and after the year and a half that we’ve all had it’s good to them all smiling again. It is good for us players, staff, to see everybody enjoying themselves.”
