England to host Ireland for Wembley friendly after New Zealand withdraw

England will face Ireland in a friendly at Wembley next month after Stephen Kenny's side stepped up to replace the gap in the fixture calendar.

The Three Lions had been set to face New Zealand, only for their opponents to pull out due to concerns over travelling while the world sees coronavirus cases on the rise.

Gareth Southgate's side will now face Ireland under the arch on November 12, before travelling to Belgium three days later and then hosting Iceland on November 18 in their final two Nations League games.

International breaks this year have been extended in order to cover the postponement of games during football's shutdown and allow managers more time with their squads ahead of next year's rescheduled European Championships.

England have used the additional games for two friendlies, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Conor Coady and Danny Ings all scoring their first goals at international level during last month's game against Wales.
