England to face Austria and Romania in Euros warm-up games at Riverside Stadium

England will face Austria and Romania at Middlesbrough’s Riverside Stadium as part of their preparations ahead of Euro 2020.

Austria, who are also at the delayed Euros, face the Three Lions on June 2, with Romania the visitors on June 6.

A statement from the FA said: “The Riverside Stadium was selected to host both fixtures to help support a COVID-secure environment for the squad.”

Gareth Southgate and his England squad will then travel to St. George’s Park as they basecamp for the tournament.

England’s three Euros group games, starting against Croatia on June 13 before facing Scotland and Czech Republic, will all be held at Wembley Stadium.

The statement continues “With Wembley Stadium gearing up to be a EURO 2020 host venue, the Three Lions will once again be taken on the road having played in Manchester, Sunderland, Leeds, Leicester and Southampton since 2016.

“Should it be deemed safe for fans to attend these forthcoming fixtures then any ticketing arrangements will be communicated via The FA and not Middlesbrough FC.

“The FA will continue to liaise with relevant authorities and explore the possibility of supporters being in attendance. Both matches will be televised live on ITV.”
