Rugby World Cup organisers have said that the vast majority of fans who have bought tickets for what is now a depressing dead rubber in Manchester on Saturday between England and Uruguay are planning to attend regardless.
England Rugby 2015 said there had been “a trickle not a flood” of tickets for the Uruguay match posted on its official resale site, with around 200 added since England’s exit.
But the secondary ticketing site Viagogo said that the number of tickets available on its site had almost tripled in the last three days to 560.
The price being asked for tickets for the Uruguay match on the site has meanwhile tumbled by a third while prices for the knockout stages have also fallen in the wake of England’s exit.
Organisers have repeatedly warned that anyone buying tickets through a secondary website may be refused entry because resale except through official channels contravenes their terms and conditions. Fans looking for a bargain can also turn to the England Rugby Store, where selected merchandise has been discounted by as much as 40% following England’s elimination. There are 57 items available at discounted prices – with home and away replica shirts included in the sale.
