England will be without Trent Alexander-Arnold for this summer's Euros after the star right-back picked up an injury against Austria.
It means the 22-year-old will be unable to go head to head with his Liverpool teammate Andy Robertson when Scotland face Gareth Southgate's team at Wembley.
Alexander-Arnold was left out by Southgate for England's March internationals but came exploding back onto the scene after a strong finish to the domestic season.
He was named as one of four right-backs in Southgate's 26-player squad and was vying for a starting spot with the likes of Reece James, Kyle Walker and Kieran Trippier.
He started their friendly with Austria but was forced off prematurely after picking up a thigh injury in the second half.
And he has now withdrawn from the squad for the upcoming competition.
It's a heartbreaking blow for the 22-year-old, who made the cut for England's squad despite reports claiming otherwise in the days leading up to their squad announcement.
It was understood the Liverpool man was set to be overlooked due to the stiff competition for places on the right of defence.
But he eventually made the grade, only to pick up an injury which has ended his hopes of starring for his country this summer.
Alexander-Arnold's absence will be a blow for England too as they go into the tournament as one of the bookies' favourites to win the trophy.
Many expect them to win Group D, but they will now have to navigate ties with Croatia and the Czech Republic - as well as the anticipated meeting between the Auld Enemies at Wembley - without one of their in-form stars.
