England stars Mike Brown and Ben Te'o were dropped from the squad last week after brawling during a team bonding session, according to reports.
The Times say that Brown and Te'o had an altercation during a function at England's training camp in Italy.
Eddie Jones took his charges to Treviso in preparation for the Rugby World Cup later this year, where they encountered searing heat and humidity.
During that camp, the national newspaper report that England management arranged a social event to bring the squad closer together, during which the two players came together.
England have continued preparations for the global gathering without the pair and the paper goes on to say that the fracas was a factor in both players being dropped by Jones.
The RFU have not commented on why both players were axed but say they remain in contention for Jones' final 31-man squad, which will be named on Monday.
Jones has named an experimental side, missing a number of frontline players, to face Wales on Sunday in a game that he says will have no bearing on his final selection.
