England star Jofra Archer makes injury vow after T20 World Cup heartbreak

England hero Jofra Archer has vowed to do "everything in my power" in order to avoid having to "watch another tournament on the sofa again".

Archer, who bowled the all-important super over in England's 50-over World Cup win back in 2019, has been forced to miss both the T20 World Cup and the Ashes due to a recurring elbow injury.

The Sussex quick last played for England back in March during their T20 series against India and, with another T20 World Cup on the horizon next year, Archer is desperate to be a part of England's side.

He tweeted: "Def doing everything in my power so I never have to watch another tournament on the sofa again."

Speaking back in August, Archer revealed that he is targeting a return to international cricket in March, when England tour the West Indies.

"The reason I had an operation in May was because I wanted to sort out the problem once and for all," he told the Daily Mail.

"I don’t want this thing hanging over me. I want to be out there again, taking wickets and helping win games for England.

"Having said that, I'm trying to be cautious about when I make my comeback, but I guess there's a chance I'll be ready in time for England's three-Test series against West Indies in the Caribbean in March."

"But I can't make any promises, and I'll be seeing a specialist soon about the elbow.

"Tim Bresnan had a similar problem, and we spoke about the issue which made me a bit nervous, I must admit.

"But I’m sure it will be fine in the long run, and I’m grateful that the injury doesn’t stop me going about my daily business. It’s not as if I’m limping around, or anything like that."
