Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount and Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka are both expected to be included in Gareth Southgate’s squad for September’s Euro 2020 qualifiers.
Leicester playmaker James Maddison and Mount’s team mate Tammy Abraham are also in contention for call-ups.
But Southgate is set to exclude Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, while Jack Butland’s early-season errors at Stoke could see the goalkeeper left out.
Southgate names his squad on Thursday ahead of games against Bulgaria and Kosovo.
Mount and Maddison were both included in his squad for Nations League games against Croatia and Spain last year, while Abraham made his England debut against Germany in November 2017.
Wan-Bissaka has yet to be included in a senior squad amid strong competition for the right-back berth. Southgate may yet name four right-backs in his squad, with Kieran Trippier not out of contention after his summer move to Atletico Madrid.
All four players were part of Aidy Boothroyd’s under-21 squad for the 2019 European Championships.
Southgate and assistant Steve Holland observed Grealish during Aston Villa’s win over Everton, but the naming of this squad is believed to have come too soon for the midfielder.
Butland was dropped by Stoke this weekend and the door is open for one of Sheffield United’s Dean Henderson, Southampton’s Angus Gunn or Burnley’s Nick Pope to take his place in the Squad.
Elsewhere, Dele Alli is expected to feature for Tottenham against Arsenal this weekend after recovering from a hamstring issue, but Fabian Delph’s groin injury may well preclude him from selection.
England are top of Group A after successive five goal wins against the Czech Republic and Montenegro. They host Bulgaria at Wembley on September 7 and then Kosovo at St Mary’s Stadium on September 10.
