England squad: Jordan Henderson in contention despite Liverpool absence

Jordan Henderson is in contention to feature for England in the upcoming international break, despite missing Liverpool's win at Fulham through injury.

The Reds captain did not travel to Craven Cottage on Sunday as a result of the ankle issue he picked up in the early stages of Wednesday's 3-1 win at Bayern Munich.

However, Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Henderson is recovering well and will be able to join up with his England teammates next week after completing his rehabilitation at Melwood.

Then, Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate must decide whether the midfielder is fit enough to feature in European Championship qualifiers against Czech Republic and Montenegro.

Speaking after Liverpool's 2-1 win in the capital, Klopp said: "Yeah, it’s Hendo and Hendo will go to the national team.

"I think he will have two or three days at Melwood with his rehab.

"But it looks positive, and I think he is in contact with Gareth that when he can train, he goes to the national team. And if he plays, then Gareth will decide.

"It was not that serious. And now in three or four days he should be fine."
