England squad announcement LIVE: Gareth Southgate to name selection for Uefa Nations League finals

England captain Harry Kane is expected to be included when Gareth Southgate names his squad for June's Nations League finals on Thursday.

Kane, who has not played since suffering ankle ligament damage against Manchester City in early April, faces a race against time to be fit for the Champions League Final on June 1.

England do not play their Nations League semi-final against the Netherlands until June 6 and Southgate is prepared to risk including his skipper in the hope he will have recovered.

The England boss will name a squad of more than 25 players before confirming his final 23 by May 27.

Southgate's build-up is hampered by the fact Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham are all competing in European finals, with several key England players set to participate in both.

Those involved do not have to report for England duty until June 3 - three days before the Nations League semi-final. The Three Lions will then face Portugal or Switzerland in either a final or third-place play-off on June 9.

Southgate’s squad announcement is expected at 2pm GMT today. Stay tuned for live updates…
