England spinner Kirstie Gordon an injury doubt for India semi-final

Spinner Kirstie Gordon is a doubt for England women’s World Twenty20 semi-final against India on Thursday — a repeat of last year’s World Cup Final.

The slow left-armer has been struggling with lower back pain and will be assessed before a decision is taken on whether she can be involved in Antigua, with the game starting at midnight GMT.

Hosts West Indies face Australia in the first leg of tonight’s double header at the Viv Richards Stadium.

England are already world champions in the 50-over game after they beat India in the showpiece at Lord’s.

Captain Heather Knight said: “I think we’ve had some really good experience from crunch games.

“Obviously that game against South Africa (in this tournament), we knew pretty much was a must-win game straightaway: the second game in the tournament, and it was straight into crunch time.

“And obviously that World Cup last year found us in great stead in terms of (how) we won quite scrappy games we probably shouldn’t have.”

England have impressed with the ball throughout, with Anya Shrubsole taking seven for 35 across three matches in the Caribbean.
