England sent Christian Pulisic warning ahead of USA clash - "we are not intimidated"

USA captain Tyler Adams insists they are not intimidated by England and says they have their own superstar in Christian Pulisic.

America are preparing to face England on Friday after the Three Lions smashed Iran 6-2. But Leeds midfielder Adams still wants his side to go for the win to boost USA’s hopes of qualification from Group B.

They were frustrated to be held 1-1 by Wales after conceding a late Gareth Bale penalty despite dominating the first half and leading through Timothy Weah at the break. Adams ,23, said: “We are eager to bounce back and now have the opportunity against a good team.

“We are not intimidated. We know how much quality they have. I have had the opportunity to play against a lot of them in the Premier League this year but we have a good team as well.”

USA’s best player on Monday night at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium was Chelsea ’s attacking midfielder Pulisic, who has 21 goals in 51 caps. He instigated the start of the move for Weah’s opener from deep and then produced a defence-splitting ball for the forward to convert.

And though Pulisic, 24, has struggled in the Premier League for consistency with 20 goals and nine assists in 87 games since a £58million move in January 2019 from Borussia Dortmund, Adams insists the ace is essential to the national team.

Adams said: “He is an unbelievable player. What you saw on the goal, he is probably the only player on the field that can set that play up. That is a glimpse of what he can do.

“He is super talented and he is going to be a huge integral part for us moving job. We certainly have players who can make plays in big moments like Christian and Tim , who did a great job.”
