England's quarter-final opponents issued warning by Harry Kane as squad watch on

Harry Kane has claimed England will be ready for their Euro 2020 quarter-final with Ukraine now awaiting them in Rome.

The Three Lions enjoyed a day to remember at Wembley on Tuesday afternoon after defeating Germany 2-0 at Wembley Stadium.

Second-half goals from Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane booked Gareth Southgate's side place in the last eight of the competition in dramatic style.

England knew at full-time their win would mean either Sweden or Ukraine becoming their next opponents, with a last gasp extra time goal ensuring Ukraine ran out 2-1 winners.

Kane made clear that the Three Lions would be ready to take on either side and planned to watch the game on their coach back to St George's Park.

Discussing England's next potential opponent, he told BBC: “We’ll be on our way back to the camp so we’ll probably have it on in the coach.

“Two good teams, two tough teams but whoever it is we’ll be ready. We’ll prepare well.

“It’s a quicker turnaround now so we’ll have to recover well and get ready for that one.”

It was an important afternoon for the Tottenham Hotspur striker, who finally got his first goal at Euro 2020 for England.

There had been calls for the 27-year-old to be removed from Southgate's starting-eleven, but he headed home England's second goal of the afternoon to get off the mark.

Kane raced away in celebration after connecting with Jack Grealish's cross into the box and is now hoping for more moments like this at the rest of the tournament.

“Massive. I took a little blow to the knee but knew it was just contact so it was just a case of taking a couple of minutes to get back," he told BBC.

“I’ve always said as a striker you’ve got to be ready for the next chance, ready for the next one. Jack’s put in a great cross and I was able to put it in.

“It's an amazing feeling. Obviously any striker wants to be scoring goals, so it’s nice to score my first in this tournament and hopefully I can score a couple more from now to the end.”
