England's most deprived neighbourhoods have been revealed

England's most deprived neighbourhoods have been revealed in a government report.

Local authorities in the north - including Manchester, Middlesbrough, Knowsley, Hull and Liverpool - came out as having the highest proportion of highly deprived neighbourhoods in their area.

The report measures deprivation in 32,844 small areas or neighbourhoods across England.

In Blackpool, a total of eight neighbourhoods made the top 10 of the most deprived nationally.

The seaside village of Jaywick in Essex, which was famously used in a US election campaign advert last year, has topped the list for the third time.

Completing the top 10 was an area of Anfield in Liverpool.

Levels of deprivation are measure using data around income, employment, education, health, crime, barriers to housing and living environment.

The least deprived area of England is a neighbourhood nestled in the Chiltern Hills near Amersham, Buckinghamshire.
