England’s Autumn Nations Cup matches on Amazon Prime to feature cameras in the posts

England’s matches in the Autumn Nations Cup will of course be played behind closed doors, but feature a broadcasting innovation designed to bring supporters even closer to the action – cameras in the posts.

Rights holders Amazon Prime have installed eight cameras in the posts – PostCAM – at Twickenham and they will be moved to Parc y Scarlets in Llanelli for England’s meeting with Wales, which is their only away game.

The aim is to bring fans new angles of tight goal-line action and the cameras will be used both live and in replays. The TMO will also be able to use PostCAM footage when making decisions.

“With fans unable to get into the stadium, we’re delighted to be able to offer a new way to bring them closer to the action.” said Alex Green, managing director of Prime Video Sport Europe.

“PostCAM will give rugby fans a brand new perspective on the game that they love – and we think the Autumn Nations Cup is the perfect launchpad for it.”

Amazon will pipe crowd noise – particular to each stadium – over their broadcasts, which can be disabled by viewers if they prefer.

The broadcasts will be hosted by Gabby Logan and Mark Durden-Smith and will feature pundits Dylan Hartley, Serge Betsen and Sam Warburton, among others.

Amazon are broadcasting 14 of the 16 games, with their first being Scotland’s trip to Florence to play Italy on Saturday, followed by England vs Georgia.

The Autumn Nations Cup will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from November 13.
