England rugby fan, who booked flights to World Cup final while drunk, saved by Hostelworld

Rob Lewis, England fan who booked flights to Japan while drunk, has been saved by Hostelworld.

After celebrations for England's Rugby World Cup semi-final win over New Zealand turned in a boozy affair, the 36-year-old from Sunbury-on-Thames dropped £650 on return flights to Japan via a stopover in France.

The only problem(s): he didn't have a ticket, he didn't have a place to stay and he was on crutches.

"At 11am the idea popped in my head to look at flights," he said.

"I had a knee operation just over a week ago so I’m on crutches at the minute. I’m going to be hobbling around Tokyo on crutches trying to get a ticket to the final, which is pretty dumb but worth it for the adventure.”

Enter, Hostelworld.

After word of Mr Lewis' exploits circulated, Hostelworld got in touch to offer the web designer free board during his stay.

Lewis will now be based in Nihombashi, in one of the country's well known 'POD' beds. He is a short walk from the nearest train station, Akihabara, which will take him to the International Stadium in Yokohama City on Saturday.

Now, let's hope he gets a ticket for the game.
