Billy Vunipola will start for England in their Rugby World Cup match against Wales in place of Ben Morgan, who is struggling with a knee injury.
Morgan is unlikely to make the match-day 23, with James Haskell expected to take his place among the replacements.
Vunipola, who came on for Morgan in the match against Fiji and secured the precious try bonus point in the final seconds, will be part of a reshuffled side, with Owen Farrell to replace George Ford at fly-half. Sam Burgess, meanwhile, will be handed his opportunity at inside centre due to Jonathan Joseph’s injury.
There are fears that Joseph could miss the rest of England’s pool fixtures having sustained a pectoral injury in the victory over Fiji, which has proved worse than first feared. England must now decide whether to risk the 24-year-old against Australia on 3 October and Uruguay on 10 October, or rest him in the hope that he will be fit for the knockout stages.
Sources close to Joseph, though, insist he is still expecting to return to full training next week with a view to being in contention for selection against Australia.
