Harry Kane and Harry Maguire were on the scoresheet for Gareth Southgate's Three Lions, who took the lead in just the fourth minute.
Kane fired in from close range after Raheem Sterling played him through with a pinpoint pass that split the Ukraine defence.
Andriy Shevchenko's men kept things respectable in the first half and after a formation change got back into the contest.
But Southgate's half-time team talk struck a chord with his Three Lions and they came out roaring.
Maguire made it two with a powerful header from a Luke Shaw free-kick before the Manchester United left-back assisted Kane for his second.
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson completed the rout on 63 minutes with another headed goal.
Southgate's men are back in action on July 7, when they take on Denmark at Wembley.
