(Picture: Getty Images)Aston Villa star Ollie Watkins is looking to learn valuable lessons from Tottenham counterpart Harry Kane during the international break.
Former Brentford striker Watkins was handed his maiden senior England call-up by Gareth Southgate last week after hitting 10 goals in an impressive first season at Premier League level so far.
And the 25-year-old is keen to take advantage of the opportunity, asking Three Lions captain Kane for advice ahead of 2022 World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland.
“I spoke to him a couple of times,” Watkins said of 51-cap Kane, 27, during a press conference on Tuesday.
“I just asked him how he trains, how he looks after himself, just to get some inside knowledge on how he works.
“He is someone I can definitely learn off on a day-to-day basis.”
Watkins said it would be a “dream” to make his England debut in the days ahead, though he is not looking at this week as a huge chance to make a case for inclusion in Southgate’s squad for the rescheduled European Championship this summer.
“I'm not trying to think too far ahead, I just take each training session as it comes and focus on the next - that's what I always got told,” he added.
"I'm going to try to enjoy this week, work hard, make a good impression and see where it goes from there.
"After that perform week in, week out for my club and see what happens."
