England name team to face Wales in Six Nations as Courtney Lawes ruled out

England boss Eddie Jones has named his side to face Wales in the Six Nations on Saturday, with Courtney Lawes ruled out.

The experienced forward, who is a regular member of Eddie Jones’ squad, suffered an injury in training and his place at blindside flanker has been taken by Mark Wilson.

Head coach Jones has made only one other change from the starting lineup which beat Italy last time out, with Jamie George replacing Luke Cowan-Dickie at hooker.

There is a surprise place on the bench for rookie George Martin, the 19-year-old lock or flanker who is set to make his Test debut after making only seven senior appearances for Leicester Tigers.

But it is a familiar looking starting line-up from Jones, who has put his trust in experience to get the job done despite the likes of Owen Farrell, Billy Vunipola and Elliot Daly, who is set to win his 50th cap, struggling for form of late.

Jones said: "Wales is a really special fixture and rivalry. There is a long history between the two nations and the game means a lot to both countries.

"We know we’ll be up against a strong Welsh challenge on Saturday, but we’ve worked really hard in training this week and have got a very good team to face it.

"We want to show people what we are capable of, keep building our performances and the best is yet to come from this England team."

England head into the game after one win and one defeat so far after losing to Scotland at Twickenham in the first round.

England: 15. Elliot Daly; 14. Anthony Watson, 13. Henry Slade, 12. Owen Farrell (capt), 11. Jonny May; 10. George Ford, 9. Ben Youngs; 1. Mako Vunipola, 2. Jamie George, 3. Kyle Sinckler; 4. Maro Itoje, 5. Jonny Hill; 6. Mark Wilson 7. Tom Curry, 8. Billy Vunipola.

Replacements : 16. Luke Cowan-Dickie, 17. Ellis Genge, 18. Will Stuart, 19. Charlie Ewels, 20. George Martin, 21. Ben Earl, 22. Dan Robson, 23. Max Malins.
